Plate Glass Window
The greatest vision caused my heart to soar
With blind ambition fast at Heaven’s door-
Unmindful of the tricks reflected light
Can play on haunted souls at that great height.
A great awakening came in a flash
As she and I experienced this crash
Into a plate glass window- always there
But we had just been too in love to care.
When all the love that filled our hearts with mirth-
In blinding light came falling to the earth-
As in a dream which dies without a sound-
I lay as in repose upon the ground.
Never before was I to be this stunned-
My lover’s heart by facts of life out gunned,
And conscience came to give the eulogy
As if this was the death of her and me.
Yet not so fast, my heart is beating still-
With challenges and dreams it must fulfill-
Though mocked in turn by this too grand reflection
My heart will only seek a new direction.
If there’s no answer known for what to do-
At least the light, for now- is getting through.
I see her- and thank God, that is a start
For opening the window of her heart.

When I was little I had a fabulous dog, part Wheaton and the rest part whatever from the pound. He had so much energy and one day he jumped right through the plate glass window, landing on the ground in a pool of blood. We had to rush him to the vet of course. But anyway, he wasn't sorry after he recovered, he tried to do it all over again to get outside to the dog he saw walking by. Either that or he wanted to get the postman really badly, but as a girl I was sure it was for his soulmate he jumped through.
