Reading

I hung on every word you said.
The precious poetry you read-
Your soothing voice that calms my soul
From all the cares that take their toll.

Your words of passion so transcended-
Not for me, but I pretended-
Wishing that the Gods could smile
On one so lowly for a while.

And yet, how could there be more pleasure?
Words whose worth I can not measure.
Taking time to read to me-
I am as lucky as can be.

I hope I can return the favor-
Read to you some words to savor.
Precious time with just us two-
Reading what I feel for you.
