I feel my mother's absence, nothing more.
No silent whisper, scent of sweet perfume...
No presence next to me in any room,
No waves of comfort reaching to my shore.
I feel my mother's absence, nothing more.
For all the words so many people say,
As if the thing I feel should go away.
It doesn't do what they are praying for.
I feel my mother's absence, nothing more.
So many people try but can't get through,
Until they see there's nothing they can do.
This is a problem they had best ignore.
I feel my mother's absence, nothing more.
No music like she always used to sing,
Each day I wake to endless suffering
I can't escape, her death has locked the door.
I feel my mother's absence, nothing more.
This is not life the way it's meant to be,
When this much love is snatched away from me.
I knew the wealth, what can I be but poor?

John this is a well written poem, but if i may, i suggest that if you make (slight) variations with the repeating line it would make it more interesting simply for not being too predictable. depending on how you change the line will determin on what may need to change in rest of stanza, but this shold not shoo you away for the challenge.
