The treadmill is for exercise
And so it comes as no surprise
That we get off the place where we begin.
And though we haven’t gotten far
We ride the thing because we are
In need of better shape than we’ve been in.
So maybe all the love and care
That doesn’t get us anywhere
Has some redeeming value all its own.
And we are growing better love
By those who we are dreaming of
Than if we were just sitting here alone.
So please come on and trust me now
And try to lighten up somehow,
For in the end you’ll see it all works out.
