This is the love all other lovers seek-
The love to which all yearning hearts aspire,
The luckiest of which may catch a peek,
But I will be cremated in its fire.
It makes no difference if this is explained,
Explained away, or given different names...
That any human heart can feel this pained
Yet happy in imaginary flames.
I’ve found this love and known its power and yet
I do not grasp to draw it to my breast.
It’s not the kind of love that people get,
Some kind of faith assures me it’s the best.
There’s no response- but pondering the odds
Of this – such love that no response will do,
Where from this moment on no other Gods
Will match the worship I am giving you.
