Since When?

Since when did you become the sun
That now I grow so pale?
Since when the wind that moves me so
That I no longer sail?
Since when were you the hidden spring
That welled up in my heart?
So now I just evaporate
Because we are apart.

I scarcely gave a thought about
The leave that you were taking,
Since when is that a reason for
My heart to now be breaking?
And yes, you will be back with me
In just a little while,
But I am wondering since when
Would that have caused this smile?

There just may be an answer to
What I would like explained,
The reason I’m so missing you
Are all the gifts I gained,
Since first we met but also when
You blew a little kiss,
I think that it has been since then
That I have felt like this.
