Like all relationships it started with such intense anticipation...
Would this be the answer to every prayer,
Every dream, or like so many before-
Would it just go down the toilet?
There's the rub.
She reminded me of a men's room urinal,
So flushed when I backed away from her
By some magical power I could never understand.
The rules used to be cut and dried, which handle to pull...
Now everything happens automatically,
Our control lost in the process.
And she knew I would keep coming back...
Those urges would come,
And she would have me where she wants me...
Exposed and vulnerable.
I could read the writing on the wall.
All false promises to punish those who gave out a number.
I know what I'm doing here.
I don't need the crude illustrations to show me how.
Maybe she does belong with me, just not where I'm at now.
I could wash my hands of the whole thing,
But the signs tell me it is employees who must do that.
So I'm reminded I don't belong here any more than she does.
It wasn't her that brought me here, it was nature.
Now nature wants to bring me to her.
This isn't the only place to be an animal,
It just smells like it is.
So I'll put things back in their place
And try again to enter her world,
Hoping to find better use of my equipment.

John,
"Maybe she does belong with me, just not where I'm at now."
"So I'm reminded I don't belong here any more than she does. "
I love the metaphors of this one in verses. creative and I also like the ability to flush it is one need be. Excellent anology in verses.
