The Almost Lucky Girl

Though people say you’re lucky we both know it isn’t true ,
For even though I’m writing all these poems of love for you,
They only tell my feelings; they don’t do you any good-
It isn’t that I love you, it is only that I would.

Confined within our circumstances- call it fate or chance,
It’s only in our fantasies that we might find romance.
While living in a world of dreams may have a great appeal,
I feel my spirit’s silent screams that people should be real.

So what are we? The star crossed lovers somehow cursed by fate?
To find the one true love for us but know it is too late?
The lives we have created are the lives that must exist-
The love that we are feeling is the life that we have missed.

I can’t deny a moment what I’m feeling in my heart.
But oh- how hard I’m trying to deny that we’re apart-
That always feels impossible, I feel that you are here.
I’d rather keep my clouded mind than ever have it clear.

I know for all I’m feeling that my life is a facade,
And I can’t fight the truth forever- living under God.
The greatest game we ever played- pretending we don’t know
Love isn’t in the cards for us; we have to let it go.

John: I have a never-give-up nondefeatist attitude. Not too long ago when I had given up hope a tornado came along and changed everything. I'll have to tell you about it sometime. Sometimes God has unique ways of working things out. Susan Sparks

Whew! I felt the gamut of emotions in this one - tenderness, love, longing, pain - beginning to end. I connected with this one. (And, as always, the flow is awesome.) Outstanding write, John!

OOOOH!!! This one sounds like my life story!!

Living in a fantasy world of love...a love to far away to be ever my own...but I will dreamm forever if it would make me a happier person at the end!!
The problem is...will he forever love me!!
And be happy with it?..Sure do hope so!!

Dreams are good friend when you lonely!!

Without my dreams I would never even try and write poetry!!

Sorry had to say it!!

Love Tinka
