The Shadow

There’s a shadow where I’m walking,
Someone interferes with light.
Those I love this one is stalking,
Watching how I get it right.

I’m only glad to make a friend
Each time an angel comes my way
But shadows only can pretend,
And turn all angels in to prey.

The first it caused me great concern
Was when it made an angel cry.
Attempts to steal what I must earn
Revealed a person of the lie.

But comforting this special one
Restored her heart and even more.
The damage quickly was undone
At least for one that I adore.

Now knowing that it lurks about
And how this shadow plays its game
The truth is easy to point out
For we can see it in its name.

The falsehood is so plain to see
And even those who don’t in time
Will notice how it shadows me
In vain attempts to hide its crime.

And time will be my greatest tool
As always light makes shadows hide
I’m living by the golden rule
And only have true love inside.
