Poets Live Alone.

Poets Live Alone. I live unknown to those who call me friend, Who laugh at jokes they recognize as mine, While deep inside I long to make it end And vanish from them all without a sign. These friends would choose their words of eulogy, Sincere attempts to bring me, good or bad, Back to their minds, if only they could see Their own beliefs are all they ever had. My cards were on the table all along. My heart was on my sleeve where all could reach But none could help, they all must do me wrong. I learn while life just uses them to teach. The depths of pain created me, a soul, While others try to love with hearts of stone. The chasm of the truth, too big a hole, So that’s why poets always live alone. John H. Bidwell.

When I write, I am alone. Time and space disappear. I enter a zone where nothing exists except my thoughts of what I am writing. Thank you for this wonderful write.

Love ya!

expressing your feelings like this does help - i hate aloneness too, not even writing at present. Just cannot think when alone.

Everyone lives alone. But I know what you mean as far as poets being some of the more lonely people than others. I most definitely live alone, as a poet, and as a human.

Nice write, I will have to read more!

You're right, they do. This has captured something almost too deep to explain in words. Great poem, heartfelt.

... mark these words:

“Art is the result of the artists' attempt to resolve the conflict between human need and the unresponsive world.” M. S. Jones

... pity those who can not create beauty from despair!!! you may ask: 'then why is not everyone an artist?' the answer, my friend, is that only those who feel deeply, see clearly past the sham of civilization, feel with enough intensity to understand that the world is an empty shell; and so we create art to fill the gap.

John,

It has been said to me before, "You have been through so much, yet you bear the pain so well." and in my mind, I'm saying, "Ah, only on the outside, friend, only on the outside ...my heart is dieing inside." Poets are some of the most compassionate, pain-enduring people I know. Hey, would we be able to write, otherwise?

Wonderfully expressed. Keep that proverbial chin up, Up, UP!

Hugs,
Tami

John:

Some friends are meant to stay and keep; others who continue to think bad of us aren't worth to be called friends anyway. They're best to be just left alone. We are our own best judges -

If we're good, we know we are, and God knows we are.

Good thought-provoking piece here!

John, this is sad, but wonderful, expressive writing.....I do believe that most poets live alone...I am married and live with my husband...but....if the truth be told...I am really "alone"....in my own little world....the world of my mind......I do believe you hit the nail on the head with this one....great writing...enjoyed the poem immensely....floria
