Passing Peace

Dear friend, the dream I dare not dream comes true
When God in mercy sends His peace through you,
For with our calm embrace I breathe your love
And cry from grace I’m so unworthy of.
Perhaps you do not see the tears I shed,
Or hear the words I live but leave unsaid,
But look at me- I tremble by your side
And gasp to say, “I love you” through my pride.
Forgive me if my words for you seem wrong.
I search my heart but find no other song,
And other voices rise to drown me out
Enveloping my hope with clouds of doubt.
I’m sorry that I had to hold you tight,
And needed you to make one moment right
Of all the moments dammed within my fate,
And now I’ve started loving you too late.
It leaves me weak and helpless, so withdrawn
That no one knows I’m dying ‘till I’m gone,
But hearts are strong, and I have died before,
And I will dream you did not close the door.

John,

Nice work. The last stanza brought the whole thing together and made it a powerful write.
