Fetch

The closest thing to me that you might find
Would be a dog adopted from a pound.
No other life so fashioned or designed
Could be so happy just cuz you’re around.

It may be strange to see the self-same traits
In me that make a dog be “Man’s best friend.”
But this is how it should be with soulmates-
Excited love that never seems to end.

And like with dogs, when you don’t treat me well
It makes no difference you will ever see.
The only thing my life is meant to tell
Is just how happy you are making me.

I am this happy- just because you’re you.
I feel excited every single day.
No matter where you go or what you do,
As long as I’m the one you tell to “Stay.”

And stay I will, I’m very good at that.
I love you more than you will ever know,
And while you must go looking for the cat
I’m always here with lots more love to show.

So please consider all I have to give,
And could you ever find a better catch?
