Phone Call

At first she heard my kitty purr
And then she heard me cry.
I loved the chance to talk to her,
But then my heart would die.

A death because of who she was
And how she came to be.
I couldn’t love her more because
She shared all this with me.

And yet it wasn’t anything
I hadn’t heard before.
We all have come through suffering
Who enter Heaven’s door.

And Heaven’s where she so belongs
If I can have my way.
She filled my heart with blessed songs
Because we talked today.

Amazing what a call can do,
And how it made me feel.
The chance to tell her “I love you.”
(She couldn’t see me kneel.)

And yet I think she knows inside
This time it’s really love.
I couldn’t help it- I just cried
What we were dreaming of.
