The Elusive Nature of Love

This is one that I wrote a long time ago but decided to resurrect. I am on a constant quest to express but find that perfect expression is as elusive as a playful butterfly. While thinking about this, I remembered this poem and reread it. What greater form of expression than love? How terrible it is to love but not be able to experience it tangibly.

The Elusive Nature oF LOVE

A ghostly orb in liquid midnight floats
As silvery caresses of faint fingers touch
Thoughts sigh from a soul thus inspired
And desires to grasp and then to clutch

Elusive still as the morning mist that floats
Lying in wait for the tender breath of dawn
As raging passion beneath the surface lies
Thus ostensibly thwarted, she feels forlorn

Time, a celestial clock - mocks as it moves
And night’s cloak is torn in fragments of day
Mantilla of stars, fades in the light of the morn
Hope lifts in colour and then pales to gray

The dusk settles, uneasy upon furrowed brow
Enslaved to this master with love as her yoke
She wrestles with blades that slice at her heart
And burning, the sky is obscured by the smoke

Dearest Chanti, These verses capture my entire being as I read them again and again. Your words touch the depth of my being because so much in them speaks to me completely. It is as though I were stripped bare for all to see and though I would not be ashamed or embarassed, it's still disconcerting. Soul-moving poetry, Chanti. Thank you for sharing this precious offering. Much love to you always. Regis

A breath-taking write, Chanti. The images are profound as the struggle of love plays out, yet in the end it is not to be. Wonderful work!
Take care,
Sherry

Love is not a hidden dream
But, naked, stands before us
And pulls us gently in its stream
Till we join in the chorus.

Dear Chanti,
The yearning to feel the abstract inconclusive dreams of love is like labour pains woman has to bear to give child of its own and feel proud and happy !Like motherhood love is also a boon to feel fulfilled! Love is not a single souls affair, but the moulding of two souls. Belief, sacrifice, and understanding are unique with love.In true love there is no loss nor any gain. It is a mental happiness. Victory of love more valuable than victory in thousand wars. The imagery in your poem is superb. Love never fails .Love alone can see victory in defeat!

Love, for me, is nothing but elusive. And has been for years. Which is why I've given up on finding it. No reason to hunt a game that is not in the woods.

Powerful and graphically captured, despite its elusive nature, Chanti! You have picked just the right images and textures to illustrate these feelings that are so intensely personal and yet universal as well. In so doing, have woven a fabric as
delicate and mystical as a filigree that enwraps our hearts and makes us bard-like share with you the sighs that say "'Tis so!" I couldn't say this anything like the way you have so admirably... but ah, yes!! You have articulated the nigh-on impossible in your most subtle and sensitive way. Shot through with insight and truth. TY Kate xx

This touches my heart quite deeply. Incredibly beautiful and heartrending at the same time. Profoundly moving... to say the least. This evokes too many emotions to try and categorize. Thank you for pouring your heart out in such beautiful ways. -- Jeff

Dearest Chants,

Another beauty, as is all your work dear friend, penned with deepfelt emotion.

MING HAYOO - I guess you too could make a lot of money - but then wait, not, I guess you were trying very hard to emulate the wise Chinese philospher - Confucius ... you failed dismally !!! I'll give you two of his:

Confucius says:

It is only the wisest and the stupidest that cannot change.

Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.

Confucius (551 BC–479 BC), Chinese philosopher, administrator, and moralist.

Much love dear Friend Chants

Chanti, your poem is beautifully presented ... the imagery invokes the internal struggle of love that is out of our grasp yet pulsating within our hearts ... a very moving poem stirring the emotions and surroundings inside the constraints of love's elusive embrace ...

Both picture and verse express well the untold longing experienced
with a love that one cannot quite reach. Only you, romantic heart that you are, can spell out this kind of emotion, in this fashion. I am so glad that you 'resurrected' this one. It is a true beauty...just like you.

Beautifully written, Chanti. This write has a haunting quality, which suits the subject very well. Our senses are only a vehicle of love. Love is always illusive, even when expressed physically. Even when fully realized...
