Hate or Love?

I was in a very abusive relationship 10 years ago. I escaped.

I have to hate him because,
I still love him, and
I cannot ever go back there again,
if I ever do, I will be done,
Gone to another world that no one
Should ever visit.

That was a world of lies, deception,
darkness, evil, and non-reality.
It was also a world of passion,
innocence lost,
a fierce passion for lust,
and a warped sense of love.

The sad truth is, that it was all
based on a lie on his part.
He was playing a game with my heart
And abuse with my mind.

I fell for his line,
that was what I needed at the time.
He was good, always there,
saying the right words, doing the right things,
to make me believe that he deeply loved me.

I now, know, that it was all a lie,
All a game, he thought he could win.
Well, the joke was on him!
I found my sanity back

my will to be free became stronger
than the need for him.
I thank my god for showing me,
The true meaning of the word "love".

I shall Hate Him, because I still love him.
It is the only way to complete my way to
that place and find "real love"
So , I shall hate him forever!

I find it kind of interesting that you wrote :

"I shall Hate Him, because I still love him.
It is the only way to complete my way to
that place and find "real love"
So , I shall hate him forever!"

those last lines are so revealing and I applaud you for your expression.

to hate someone you become like them or worse--hard as it may be-it is better to forgive them and move on-for when you hate someone you can become like a snake that ends up trying to eat itself with resentment--your poetry and the den needs your gifts of insight-let yourself be free to be who you were meant to be

There is some serious clockwork going on with this one. It is certainly a way to clarify and categorize. Putting things up front and reviewing their face value is a good way to get started towards being better. I think this one has a higher purpose than to simply entertain--it has high quality consideration, and wise decision making combined. Thanks for sharing this, Ragno Donna. Good luck to you, always.

I like the love/hate description here. Sometimes we are needful for this kind of relationship, and it is fine for a while. But eventually you become a whole 'nother person and that is when you either start checking yourself and him out for what is really is, or you are doomed. Thank you for finding out that you had to get the hell outta Dodge.

Love and hate are such a painful paradox, and can you ever truly escape? You have expressed it well, and I hope that this gives you your escape.

It tis such a fine line, but abuse should never be acceptable, glad you moved on, you show much strength in the wisdom of your words~

I am very glad that you found your freedom and I appreciate the interesting way you have of keeping it. Sadly, the theme that you share is all too common in this world/life, Ragno. Thank you

As they say, the opposite of love is non-chalance, not caring. Love and hate are two sides of one coin on the same side of the spectrum. And it's funny how quickly love and hate can splish-splash into one another in the hot flash of a moment. Take care.

Very interesting writing. Love and hate do go togther. One thing though hate does disappear. Love never does. Good job on the writing
end of it.

GOD BLESS YOU
TONY
