Distant Cries

Distant cries of yesterday gone,
lingering in our hearts and mind,
people and places, things we long,
now lost in the corridors of time.

Precious moments spent in love,
of things we did and did not do,
loved ones now in Heaven above,
reflecting beneath the sky of blue.

Raindrops fall from the grey sky,
essence of our youth flees away,
no answers, just questioning why,
yet we survive to have another day.

Enigma of life, our heads in a spin,
aspirations of wealth and success,
sadly from death we can not win,
even though we try to do our best.

Joys and happiness, love and peace,
a true measurement of how we live,
in the end we’ll perish, you and me,
an honest reflection, Spirits we give.

Time is always a fascinating subject. The anxiety, the fears, the hopes and ambitions. All converge. Until the end, mysterious.
We are all "lost in the corridors of time".

Sam, living each day as if it were the last is what I try every day to do. We always look back to what we should have or haven't done and all it does is nip us in the ribs. We must look ahead and face our days, knowing we did our very best and we can't change a thing in the past. I know that there's a much better place waiting for me and I await a journey to that place where there'll be no more fretting.

Reflections of our life upon our death - where will we be? This is a very thought provoking poem.

God bless you. Kathy

A journey down the path called "Life", always a wonderment. All summed up in the end by the dash between the year of birth and death....

Be safe,
