We Are So Vain

Shadows dance in the moonlight,
holding the deep secrets of our past,
one’s thoughts and desires of delight,
youthful indiscretions that did not last.

Reflections cast with a silvery glow,
things that once were, now but gone,
lost in the reality of what we know,
dateless times we now forever long.

Memorized by our hopes and dreams,
we planned each day that will come,
vanishing in nights of ageless schemes,
before we know it all is said and done.

The age of sex, drugs, to rock and roll,
create our illusion of an immortal pace,
sadly ends being buried in a dark hole,
gone forever the days of satin and lace.

Time holds the key to all our thoughts,
out of innocence we find our own fame,
while seconds pass never to be bought,
beauty vanishes yet we remain so vain.

Future: The Spiritual Story of Humanity by Glenn Martin

Histories of the world are generally written to either celebrate technology and science, or to herald doom. My book examines the path of the spirit in the onward rush.
