What do we live for,
To end up as driftwood on a distant shore?
What do we believe,
When we err, do we deserve a reprieve?
Why do we search thru endless days,
Seeking answers we hope someone else pays?
What do we seek,
When we have the world at our feet?
Will we ever find what the religions promise,
When the mind calls itself a doubting Thomas?
What is at the core of our heart’s desire,
When our emotions often turn us into a raging fire?
Why do we worry and fret, with endless fear and regret,
When peace and contentment true fulfillment beget?
Why do we gather possessions as if there were no tomorrow,
When death steals them away, as if we had them on borrow.
Will we feel more secure to be befriended by strange brethren?
Will our hearts feel more at home in a cold and perfect heaven?
Life’s questions are many;
The real answer comes down to one.
Words flow in multitudes,
But satisfaction lies within none.
Right action and good conduct
Answer the one question worth asking.
We live the answer we seek;
We strive to live a life worth living.
I'll tell you one thing, John -- heaven will be perfect, but in no way will it be cold. If we know God while we are on earth, we will be much more than satisfied when we get to our heavenly home. Think of having no pain, no tears. Think of friendship with the King, and get to know Him while you have time.
