Chin held high
She walked up to where
She knew she had to go
The book lay open
She cleared her throat
Her cheeks were tear-stained
And her voice quivered oh so slightly
As she read the words
I watched
What beauty this moment held
The young woman was obviously
Struggling to do her part..
But do her part she must
And so she read
The words flowed
Like a sweet melody from long ago
The message was clear
There is a time...
For love
For peace
For sorrow
And for hope
She continued on in her sweet voice
I saw her struggle to show hope
But even in her sorrow and fear
I saw a glow...
A wonderous peaceful glow
They call it faith
And she was radiant
Because of her faith
It was the most beautiful and sorrowful
Thing I have ever witnessed
Her sweet voice finally stopped
The book was closed
She took her place
Where she belonged...
Among her loving family
She had completed her part
Reading the eulogy for her
Beloved Grandmother's funeral
It was the last thing
Her Grandmother had asked of her
It was the last gift
That she gave her Grandmother
...well written tribute...to one asked...to farewell the journey of ones passing...in remembrance...a Grandmother's gift received.
