A Unicorn
~
Man, oh foolish man, how you do build
a pyramid of dreams to reach the stars
And call down magic beams upon their lamps
in accompaniment to jaded worn guitars
.
The dreams that shine within an orchid mist
do oftimes make the elk a unicorn
When in a moody night such fancies kiss
as seek to find a golden sunlit morn
.
On such a night the lamps of mystery
can light the way to open up a door
The wraiths of firelight and fantasy
whisper to you softly .. 'evermore'
.
Be careful, mortal, what you hold as dreams
for dreams can fade so quickly when you wake
The unicorn that danced in clouds, it seems
again becomes the elk out by the lake
.
But let me hold my dreams 'till shadows fade
into the blazing, burning light of morn
And if the morn should end the masquerade
  let twilight bring another unicorn.
