Poem Artwork
-->“It must have been something lovers call fate,
Kept me saying: "I have to wait,"
I saw them all, just couldn't fall,

'til we met.”

Gus Cahn & Isham Jones,

It Had to be You

I had wandered all around

In the forest for many a year

I had always wandered alone

Love had brought too many tears

Then one magical snowy night

Instead of hibernating in my bed

For some mystifying reason

I took a stroll to town instead

When I first walked in that door

I was feeling just a tad blue

Then when I spotted you there

I suddenly knew it had to be you

I nervously strolled up to you

And asked you for a little dance

Your eyes looked a little skeptical

But you decided to take a little chance

As we twirled around the dance floor

I soon clumsily stepped on your paws

Instead of growling and snarling and barking

You laughed and without even a little pause

You said, “It had to be You!”

And that’s what I soon said too

You’ve been my sweet Valentine

For many a wondrous year now

I really don’t think I could make it

All alone in that big forest anymore

And now when we wander together

It those woods just outside our door

I pick up another needy little critter

And you laugh and never keep score

Sometimes I do make you a tad angry

Sometimes you do give me ‘that stare’

But when it’s all said and done

You’re still my only honey bear

And although we’re growing older

And our fur’s now turned a tad gray

I know in my heart it will always be you

I simply wouldn’t want it any another way

Happy Valentine’s Day Sweetie

From your grizzled graying old bear

I hope we can always wander together

In that mystifying magical forest out there

“It had to be you, wonderful you,
It had to be you”

Hmmm, this reminds me of another certain huggable bear around The Den... I wonder if he'll be over?! :)) Cute and cuddly and will draw your love sure as bees to a honeypot - or, rather, bears to a honeypot!! The pic reminds me of The South Bank in London, just beside Westminster Bridge: I'll look out for the pair of you hibernating beneath the arches next time I'm up - on Sunday, in fact!! Nothing left-footed about this Valentine, Ed; in fact, I think it deserves rapturous appaws ((((((WTG))))))) LOL Koala Kate xx
