Very Nostalgic and Heartfelt Book,
Kentucky, The Mountains I Call Home
I can still remember a time, now so long ago
And a way of life that to many, was oh so grand
When we human beings lived a much simpler life
And respect for God’s Creation, was still our plan
We all resided in our small towns and big cities
And we all worked very hard, from dawn to dusk
But we loved our homes, and all of our neighbors
It was a time of appreciating life, and one of trust
Sundays were still reserved as a day of Worship
We never bothered to locks our doors each night
Children were very content with the simple things
And just a wondrous walk in the park was a delight
We all still joyously met down at the old corner drugstore
For a very refreshing ice cream soda or an ice-cold lemonade
We all still enjoyed those family barbeques and summer picnics
And gazing out at the deep blue sea under an old umbrella’s shade
We all shopped at those tiny, delightful, mom and pop groceries
And when any of our neighbors were in trouble, we all helped out
At Christmas time, we did what we could to help the less fortunate
And most of us truly appreciated the things we had, without a doubt
Even our extremely loyal and trusting pets were treated with great respect
And on marvelous trips to the countryside, we still revered its many creatures
We all still remembered that everything in Nature had its place and its purpose
And as I sit here recalling all of this now, I really miss that simple life’s features
But I Will Always Remember What We Once Had,
And In My Now Very Nostalgic Heart and Soul,
I Wish We Could All Somehow Reside There Again
But My Heartfelt Thanks To Joyce,
For A Marvelous Trip Down Memory Lane

A right thinking leader would bring that back,
along with Christainity in the schools.
We need a slowr pace as in your nostalgic write.
Great trip down memo lane...

I remember those days well brother Ed ... WOW, how it has changed in the hearts of Americans. Joyce is a remarkable woman - one whom I respect! Your write reminds me of that old songs lyrics: "Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end."
This write smacks of Americana at its finest - well done!
Blessings ...
