Has been part of my heart and soul
Since I was an extremely young child
The blue lakes, the green forests, the wildlife
God’s Creation at its finest, still so free and wild
Home of the bald eagle, the timber wolf, and the bear
Down every forest path and lake bend, beauty everywhere
The magnificent four seasons, each with something so unique
The magnificent sunrises and sunsets, that can make a man weep
The haunting call of the loon, ancient Native American tales to inspire
A land rich in history, tradition, and a wondrous northwood bird choir
A place where I can still journey by boat or forest path, and still feel free
A place where water and pine trees meet the sky, it’s the only place for me
It’s a place where I always yearn to spend one more day, to catch one more fish
It’s a place where I always return when life gets me down, dying here, is my wish
When that day finally comes, when I can no longer explore my beloved northwood

I know how you feel about the north woods having been there so ofton not only when I lived in Rockford,but before,when I used to visit my sister and her husbands family had cabins in the woods surrounded by lakes in the Wisconsin part. It was a thrilling experience each time I stayed there.
