How I love those vibrant frog songs;
How I’m mesmerized, by a wolf’s howl;
How I was thrilled, touching a huge whale;
How I was recently visited, by a wise old owl.
Today is ‘Endangered Species Day’
A day to think about Earth’s animals
A day to reflect, their place among us
A day to encourage, respecting them all
Far too many creatures, are now in danger
Of soon being wiped off the face of the Earth
We should all be doing all we can to protect them
We should all be pondering, their wondrous worth
Far too many politicians and modern day corporations
Could now care less, about protecting them for posterity
Far too many citizens, who once considered them, sacred
Now only think of themselves, and are consumed with ‘Me’
I have been extremely fortunate, throughout my lifetime
To have seen, and been near, so many endangered creatures
From the great timber wolf, to the wondrous humpback whale
To know them, is to truly appreciate, all their god-given features
Far too many today, in our modern world, have forgotten Mother Nature
Far too many adults today, are not teaching children about an animal’s worth
Please become an Endangered Species Advocate, and help us, to protect them
