We have a brand new alarm clock
Around our animal-filled old house
He now delights, in waking everyone
And he’s not much bigger than a mouse
He showed up at my old bird feeder
A month ago, looking for some food
And now, he knows I have peanuts
His antics, always brighten my mood
This little guy’s an extremely early riser
And each day now, he wants to be fed
He delights in waking our cats and dogs
He demands that I get up out of my bed
He loves showing up at our windows
Each and every morn, just about dawn
And now, he drives all of our pets wild
I started calling him Chipper, before long
“Chipper says it’s time for us to get up!”
I now shout out to my agitated dogs
And they all rush outside, in hot pursuit
But little Chipper always escapes into a log
Then, I toss some peanuts out by the bird feeder
And brave little Chipper grabs them, one by one
I know my dogs will never be able to outsmart him
Watching my pets and comical Chipper is always fun
I had to move out of a modern, suburban, subdivision
That poisoned all of their wildlife, including these guys
Since I believe that all of Earth’s creatures, have their place
To me, little critters like Chipper, are both humorous and wise

You wrote about insects disappearing and I never noticed, but on my last trip there was just a couple of bugs, a couple where should be a couple of hundred! Yes, if Earth is also for those creatures...somebody are doing something very wrong.
