Travels With Turbo

“To sit with a dog on a hillside,

On a glorious afternoon,

Is to be back in Eden,

Where doing nothing,

Is not boring,

It is peace.”

Milan Kundera

Music: Seminole Wind

Little Rabbit was finally safe

And I had an urge to take a ride

Soon, I found myself inside my truck

And my loyal old Turbo, was at my side

My cattle dog hails from the Navajo Nation

He’s one of the smartest dogs I’ve ever had

He seems to somehow always read my mind

Traveling about together, makes us both glad

And soon, the two of us reached our destination

A most serene hillside, perched above a little lake

The day was glorious, with a refreshing fall breeze

Far below us, we saw a mallard duck and her drake

And soon, with the aid of my trusty pair of binoculars

I was able to watch an osprey, soaring high in the sky

After observing this bird of prey, fishing for her lunch

Old Turbo and I sprawled out in the grass, with a sigh

We woke from our pleasant little nap an hour later

And now, we traipsed through a wondrous meadow

Birds were singing gloriously, wildflowers all around

My soul was content here in this place, with old Turbo

As the sun eventually began waning in the western sky

My faithful old dog and I began our serene journey home

We were both greeted very warmly, by all our other critters

And I thanked God for this fabulous day, in which we roamed

“To sit with a dog on a hillside,

On a glorious afternoon,

Is to be back in Eden,

Where doing nothing,

Is not boring,

It is peace.”

This sounds like a wonderful way to spend your day. There is nothing more freeing than to escape into nature and to find that amazing balance between needs and wants. We have all that we need, provided for us on this planet, yet we all seem to get so caught up in the misunderstandings that what we want actually being our needs. I love this poem, Ed.
Take care,
Sherry

Sounds like a wonderful day, and I often think the key to living well, for all of the answers are in nature, aren't they? Well written, Ed.

A man and his dog, or better yet, a dog and his friend, nothing is promised and yet, all is given.
