“The leaves of memory seemed to make,

A very mournful rustling in the dark.”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

When you have lived as long as my brother

You are surely bound to make a few mistakes

He somehow forgot he had invited both of them

And I just can’t help myself – this should be Great!

He remembered to put up a welcoming sign for Ma

But, he picked up La Belle at the airport, instead

Now, both of his guests seem just a tad, peeved

And I’d bet old Edvard, is now filled with dread

“Well, Sonny, it sure is nice to finally be here,

And I sure hope you have a guest house, for her;

Did you remember that I’d like the Master Bedroom,

And don’t forget, My Breakfast in Bed, I would prefer!”

“Yes, Ma…”

“Uh, don’t worry about me, Edvard,

I’m sure that I can find a place to sleep;

And I’ll be very busy preparing for the party,

Do you have an old coffin, in the Dungeon Deep?”

“Yes, La Belle…”

“Oh, Dearie, I didn’t realize!

You’re here to prepare my meals?

I hope you can make Swedish meatballs,

I just adore them, with freshly caught eel!”

“Sure, Momma Ed…”

“Oh, my dearest child, dear Edvard,

I should have known, you’d put me first!

Do you think you two can get me some wine,

That was such a long trip, I’m just dying of thirst!”

“Sure, Ma…”

“Of Course, Momma Ed…”

©2009, His Brother Pee Wee

Dear Brother Edvard:

Me and Mean Tall Woman,

And All Of Our Critters,

Were Supposed To Fly In,

With Dear Old Ma, Too;

But We’d Hate To Ruin,

Your Reunion With Her,

So We’ll Arrive Party Day,

Oh, Around About Noon.

And I’ll Admit I Love This;

While Ma is Over in Sweden,

I’ve Got Some Peaceful Bliss.

Have Fun, Brother!

Ah, two queen bees both in the hive
Should bring the wild event alive
Meatball honey on the way
I'd just wait but one more day.
