-A Sad Follow-Up to The Silent Pier-

As our human population skyrockets
Earth’s fisheries are in severe decline
Yet, this doesn’t seem to bother many
I hear so many say, “Everything is Fine.”
A team from Cornell, led by Dr. Greene
Has been tagging fish species, in Earth’s seas
And, they can now back up their assumptions
That we have already over-harvested its fisheries
Massive industrial ships are vacuuming up the Alaskan Pollock
Which are used to make fish sandwiches, for the fast food chains
And soon, without this critical food supply available to marine life
Many types of marine mammals and sea birds won’t be seen again
The Red Snapper, has been a human food staple, for many years
But, its populations have now plummeted, to less than 3 percent
Giant Grouper, which the food industry uses in massive quantities
Has been severely over-fished, and hasn’t been able to recover yet
And perhaps, worst of all, the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna and Pacific Salmon
Are now both, in a very dreadful, and an almost insurmountable, decline
Yet, commercial fishermen don’t want prohibitions against harvesting them
And, the world’s leading fish producing corporations, fight bans and fines
Future generations of Earth’s humans will likely eat ‘farm-produced fish’
Catfish and Carp, can very easily continue to be produced, on Fish Farms
But, each additional acre that will then have to be utilized to raise more fish
May, in our planet’s dismal looking future, cause even more land-based harm
Horrendously, for Earth’s many fish eating creatures,
Like its sea lions, dolphins, whales, turtles, and sea birds,
Mankind will soon become relentless, in wanting them gone,
As so many will proclaim, “Sharing what’s left, would be absurd.”
So very much in our natural world, today,
So sadly seems to now be Slip Slidin, Away.

But go one step further, who is to blame.
When our fishermen went out and the Africans/muslims made slaves of the English it was due to greed, as English men, women and kids were sold off.
Thus supply and demand, cut the demand for cheap sarnies and tinned tuna then the fishermen have zero demand.
We cut our fishing only to find the Spanish using our protected waters for their gain.
Words need to lead to world action, otherwise the words are just hollow. As we sadly saw in Denmark. One new leader of the old world order surrendering his nation to the leaders of the new world order.
