An Extremely Sad Story That I Believe Is Worth Telling,
A Story That Our Future Generations, Deserve To Know;
A Story, That One Day, A Grandfather Might Tell A Child,
If The Child Asks, “Grandpa, Where Did All The Wolves Go?”
“When our rifles were all empty, the old wolf was finally down,
And one of her pups was dragging its wounded leg into the rocks.
“We reached that old wolf in time to watch a fierce green fire dying in her eyes.
I realized then, and have known ever since, that there was something new to me,
In that old timber wolf’s eyes—something known only to her, and to the mountain.
“I was young then, and full of trigger-itch;
But after seeing that green fire die,
I sensed that neither the wolf nor the mountain,
Agreed with such a view.”

The campaign to eradicate them all, began
As soon as our nation’s settlers, moved west
Instead of attempting to live, with these residents
We very quickly decided- Annihilation - would be best
Wolf Bounties were very quickly established, by our government leaders
And hunters rejoiced, on money that they made, on ‘each and every head’
By the year 1926, almost all of our timber wolves, had been exterminated
Even the very last remaining wolf in Yellowstone Park, was already dead
Very sadly, it took almost 50 long years for our nation, to finally wake up
To finally realize, that North America’s wild animals, deserved to be saved
In 1973, Congress gave them protection, with our ‘Endangered Species Act’
They just might have a chance, in our Land of the Free, Home of the Brave
But, it took another 20 some years, before conservationists convinced people
That timber wolves were essential, as part of ‘The Natural Order of Creation’
And back in 1995, 31 Canadian timber wolves were released, in Yellowstone
Nature lovers like myself, and conservationists, and biologists, were in elation
But, of course, our elation that they might be saved, didn’t last very long at all
Cattle ranchers and politicians, began a fierce campaign to eradicate them, again
And soon, timber wolves were being slaughtered from airplanes, way up in Alaska
While bold new plans were being hatched to bring Yellowstone wolves to their end
And very sadly, these new modern plans to annihilate America’s remaining wolves
Have horrendously begun - Yellowstone’s Cottonwood Pack, has already been slain
Wolf hunters in our national parks, and across their last remaining American refuges
Are excitedly, gunning them down once more - for money, and greedy corporate gain
No other severely endangered species has ever been stripped of federal protection at such a low population level as these timber wolves have, and then been so cruelly hunted down to an even lower, unsustainable level.
Hunters in Idaho and Montana have already killed more than 200 wolves, in the first wolf hunt in our Rocky Mountains, in nearly a century.
Nearly 80 more wolves are now being targeted in Idaho – where state officials are very determined to kill them all.
And so very sadly, in a remote federal wilderness region bordering Yellowstone National Park, modern day hunters have already decimated Yellowstone's now famous Cottonwood Pack, including the slaughter of two of the most studied wolves still managing to survive in our nation.
I Guess That They Never Really Had A Chance,
In Our Land of The Dollar, Home of Our Greed;
We Have Once Again, Begun Their Exterminations,
And For All Our Wondrous Wildlife, I So Sadly Grieve.
From The Very First Day of Their Persecution, To Today,
There Has Not Been - Even One Wolf Attack - Upon Man;
And Now, I Also Sadly Wonder What Our Future Generations,
Will Think, About Our Nation’s Abysmal New Annihilation Plans.

Though as I walk through the forest I am thankful there are no wolves. (all dogs are for the most part wolf) Yet that is English education. America, I had always thought enjoyed its wildlife and would fight to protect it. Case in hand, as we have the fox from the toffs killing them off for sport.
Wolves in Sweden had never attacked man, yet in erm 92-ish they killed the last pair out of fear.
Scotland the brave is trying to reintroduce them and other such animals. America should learn from our brutality.
Once, it was the Bison/Buffalo that were hit upon. The nation needs to ask the hidden agenda.
I wonder if nature will get angry and revenge/avenge modern day man?
