What total arrogance, we humans have today
To do whatever we may please, with our planet
So many, scoff at the thought we are destroying it
So many, take its many god-given gifts, for granted
Our quest for Black Gold, drives us further, to the brink
We now probe, deeper and deeper under the seas, for oil
If enough of us believe, that we can save a few pennies more
Very few seem to care at all, what may be desecrated or spoiled
And I become more ashamed of my own nation, every day now
We seem to be leading the way today, in hurrying Earth’s demise
We’ve allowed a foreign oil company, to desecrate our own shores
No Regulations; No Fail Safe Systems; No One Even Asking – Why?
And now that our callousness has resulted in this now endless spew of oil
We’re now allowing the dispersal of millions of gallons, of untested toxins
Another modern day toxic soup, of deadly chemicals, dumped into the sea
Without any idea, at all, of what life forms, this toxic soup, could now end

But we are confident that it will work, and that it will help save our shores.”
Our arrogance, callousness, and total disregard for consequences of actions,
I, for one, now so very sadly believe, will continue to go on – forever more.
It may also come as a complete surprise, to millions of U.S. citizens, today,
That we still allow many toxic pesticides, banned by other nations, years ago;
But, far too many of us in America are truly deaf, dumb, and blind, these days,
The usual responses that I get on this: “I don’t care;” or "I don’t want to know.”

Somehow, I think we are screaming into the WIND! SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS INTO THE ABYSS! Screaming into the deaf ears of corrupt, crooked politicians who are also DUMB! Not that they don't speak - because they all speak with FORKED TONGUES!

Meanwhile those toxic chemicals BP is pouring on the oil is purely for SELFISH reasons. TO make the "oil gush" look less deadly but it IS DEADLY and giant plumes of that shit are right now beginning to drift like loose escaped toxic-driftnets under the oceans surface and in only a day or two they will be heading for our precious Florida coral reefs in the Keys!!
I AM SICK AT HEART HERE IN FLORIDA... In actual grief, as now that I am so cut off inland (70 miles from the shore) I may never again see a living ocean beach that I can surf fish from...
I re-posted my 2008 epic ANTI-Big OIL hymn "And when the black rains come..." on my poetry page and a commentary in my blog. Please send me a few people that way, so that they can experience what is is that we who love the oceans fear here in Florida (besides the economic destruction that will ensue)
I am suffering for all ocean sea-life today and feel helpless to do anything...

If President Obama takes a stand against more offshore drilling, he will have another fight on his hands with the Republicans. The Party of No is determined to keep saying "No" to him, regardless of the disastrous consequences to the world in which we live. The polls supposedly show that many Americans are still in favor of "drill bay, drill!" For my life, I can't understand why.
methinks it is already too late,I wouldn't be surprised to see some monsters come out of the sea in the future,if they survive the chemical brew being fed the poor creatures. Only God can help now,but will enough of us pray to get it done? I doubt it.
