Music: That’s What Friends Are For
My dogs continue to amaze me
They seem to possess great things
Turbo has adopted our newest, Lupita
He now guards her, as he will, her offspring
Out in the backyard, he diligently watches her
He makes sure that no harm comes her way
He really touches my heart with his gestures
He let her have one of his toys, just yesterday
A tiny, frightened, pregnant, 8-pound cast-a-way
Befriended by an 80-pound dog, with a huge heart
Just a few weeks ago, she didn’t have a single friend
Today, she has a noble one, giving her a brand new start
I wonder how many of us would befriend a human in need
Someone now down on their luck, who needs a helping hand
I wonder how many of us, even ponder, the sanctity of all life
More and more, I find the compassion of dogs, to be quite grand
