Yet another very sad phone call
Another dumped dog, on the run
Forlornly racing along a busy road
Before long, his life would be done
By the time that I arrived at the road
Many human beings had ignored him
The odds were not in this dog’s favor
It was a rescue mission difficult to win
Every time anyone got close to him
We could see terror in his canine eyes
He had lost all his trust, in human beings
Racing in and out of traffic, he would die
A few of us finally jumped out of our vehicles
We soon began herding him, towards a factory
He quickly raced under a parked truck’s wheels
We finally had him cornered, nowhere left to flee
He was now trembling and shaking, uncontrollably
After quite some time, we put a lead around his neck
Once in my truck, we wrapped him in a warm blanket
This tiny terrified runner, was now heading to the vet’s
As the vet examined him, and we stroked his head
He began to calm down, so exhausted from his roam
Like each and every abandoned animal that we catch
We’ll try our best, to find ‘Runner’ a loving new home

We can't keep him only because we found out the city will not allow us another dog or cat. Our vet took a few photo's of him, posted them and he is basically healthy and well behaved so adoptable. For the time being we will be paying for his boarding with the vet. In the meantime, we drove over to the Pet Spa where we take the girls as they are also a state recognized rescue. We showed the Pet Spa his photo, after he was bathed and clipped and they are in contact with our vet to take him in if he is not adopted in another week. Wish we could keep him, he is such a little ragamuffin. Well, not much, but it is one.
