The Finale of My Four Poem Series,

On Our Water, Air, and Land Pollution;

The More I Sadly See, and Hear, and Read,

The More I Doubt There Will Be Any Solution.

“I thank you God for this most amazing day,

For the leaping, greenly, spirits of trees,

For the blue dream of sky, and for everything,

Which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.”

e. e. cummings

Music: After The Sunrise

It seems fairly evident to me in our frenetic modern era

That this planet is now being destroyed, by we humans

So much that has been given to us, so lovingly, by God

Now seems to be rapidly and horridly, coming to an end

And when this thought very sadly begins to overwhelm me now

I often now find myself heading off somewhere with my canines

Somewhere, the very destructive hand of man, has not yet been

Somewhere, which still contains ‘natural,’ which to me, is divine

This ‘somewhere’ is usually a deep forest, not yet bulldozed down

Or an isolated lake or pond, as of yet, not polluted or dumped on

Somewhere, where I can still observe the sunrise, in tranquil serenity

Somewhere, I can still experience things my heart and soul thrive upon

Somewhere, where wondrous songbirds, are still singing their odes to dawn

Somewhere, where the wildlife is still thriving, in crystal clear waters of blue

Somewhere, where I can still thank God, for Creation’s magnificent splendor

Before most of Earth’s natural wonders, and my time on this planet, is through

I thank you God for this most amazing day,

For the leaping, greenly, spirits of trees,

For the blue dream of sky, and for everything,

Which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.

And I thank you God, for all of my wilderness treks,

And for the opportunity to hear the wolf and the loon,

To see the wild bison, and to gaze upon the wildflower,

Before they all vanish from this world, much too soon.

I’ll Be Off and Away Again Today,

To Give My Thanks, Once More.

Apathy rules. This is our home and it is being raped and pillaged.
It will not take much to abandon our leaders and fight for our home.
If onle little Black Lady can change the world so can millions upon millions. With rapid communication it can be achieved.
Stand idle and watch it die, or do like Egypt...

Such great sadness in your words as life is changing before our eyes and much too quickly it seems. What will there be left for the children and the yet unborn to experience. Sometimes I wonder. Have a safe and prosperous trip...

Be always safe,
Karen

This is underscored with great sadness, Ed,
a rightful sadness and yet you see a little hope
in the beauty left, what's left of the natural world.
I know we shouldn't give up but...

Ed this sound awful but sometimes I look at this raped Earth and I'm glad I won't have too many more years here and I hope the wonders don't leave before me.

Wonderful work Ed. The beauty of nature is starting to disappear around us faster than we know it. I love nature and love going to Yosemite where I can find that tranquile and peaceful settings amongst the trees and water falls. God Bless. George AKA THE WISE OLD OWL

ED ... thanks for sharing ...

in the inimitable words of Alfred Joyce Kilmer ...

but only God can make a tree." TK.

I join you in prayer for our world, our environment, our natural habit, our critters ... when will us humans ever learn? Sometimes I think WE are the real "animals", the way we are destroying our planet ...
