Many claim global warming is a myth
These 100 degree August days, in June
Perhaps, it’s just my mind playing tricks
But it seems, that summer, came too soon
Being a bird watcher, I know they migrate earlier, each year
I also know that more horrid wildfires now occur each spring
Perhaps it’s not global warming, it’s just our fast-paced lives
We no longer have time to wait, for what each season brings
So many, in our modern era, now demand ‘instant’ everything
But I, for one, so sadly miss those good old days, of four seasons
“Ha! Global Warming is just the ranting of goofy environmentalists,
They worry about such trivial things, and for all of the wrong reasons.
“So what if the glaciers are now all melting and the ocean levels are rising?
Who cares if spring floods, followed by 100 degree heat, is now the pattern?
All of these tornadoes, hurricanes, and wildfires, are just ‘natural phenomena,’
With all the problems today, these tree huggers should worry about what matters.”
I had to very sadly shorten our trip to the great northwood
It was 102 Degrees yesterday, these ‘Dog Days of June’
Perhaps, my canines were just imagining their Heat Stroke
As they pout because our August in June trek ended so soon
All of the last night, and it appears, the rest of today
We are also now enduring very violent thunderstorms
Scientists say these, too, are a part of all this ‘warming’
But many still proclaim - ‘this is all just part of the norm’
And my heart now goes out to all those folks in Arizona
Such a devastating wildfire, up in those ponderosa pines
My spouse and I have always loved that part of their state
We traveled there admiring its forested beauty many times
Many claim global warming is a myth,

GLOBAL WARMING means drought eventually for many prior wet areas.
Why not post this comment somewhere where it can be seen; I was late getting to this post....so sorry as I have strong reasons to believe GW is real - I've tracked weather extremes all my adult life.

are a bit of a laugh..or would be
if they didn't have so much say..and yes there's a lot to what you opine, Ed, in our being out of whack with the seasons; overall,
they are screwed and even here in the tropics we're now having rain
and (relative) cool at the 'wrong time' of year;
all this reminds me of Columbanus, the monk who, unlike
Nostradamus, wrote straight: '...before the end of time
we won't be able to tell one season from the next,' he said.
He might be right.

People complaining about environmentals just being neurotic sounds like a friend of mine. When it was so cold last winter, he said triumpantly, 'where's the global warming now'. People don't get it. As for me, August is always in June and vice versa, June is always hot, but living in the Southwestern desert is always like that. But I guess in other places, yes, summer is too soon. Excellent poem. My friend in Iowa said it was 100 the other day!

Yes, it's 98 degrees here and many of the schools in New England just don't have air conditioning. I feel so badly for the kids trying to concentrate, and for their teachers in this kind of heat.
