For many years now, but we truly need many more
This global initiative, for animal lovers everywhere
Urges everyone to help one, right outside your door
This worthy effort is open to every human being on Earth
Regardless of one’s age, or of any animal rescue expertise
Whether you are about to embark on your very first mission
Or your one hundredth - today, so many animals, are in need
The Great Animal Rescue Chase is also a truly marvelous opportunity
To teach your very own children, that animals should never be abused
That each and every animal on Earth, deserves compassion and respect
That saving the life of a neighbor is rewarding, and a marvelous thing to do
And animal rescue is not as time consuming, or as complicated, as so many believe
Simple, every day acts of human kindness, truly make a world of difference to them
From stopping your vehicle to assist a tiny turtle or a deer attempting to cross a road
To transporting a fishing-line ensnared bird to a vet, to bring their suffering to an end
A telephone call concerning a starving dog you’ve seen chained up in someone’s yard
A much needed meal for an abandoned cat you’ve seen wandering your neighborhood
There is no act of kindness too small, no animal rescuer too inexperienced, to help them
