No type or breed of dog is born vicious;

Vicious people attempt to make them so.

I went to see our latest rescue, Hank, just yesterday

And, he was doing remarkably well, after some TLC

This orphan of the storm, truly deserves a good home

With wagging tail and appreciative kisses, he greeted me

We’ve been getting some calls from people wanting to adopt Hank

But, most people today who love dogs, already have more than one

They want to know if this rescued dog gets along with other canines

So, we decided to put him to the test; Hank’s new journey has begun

We quickly enlisted the help of a fellow pet rescuer and dog trainer

Who has a most intelligent and feisty rescued Chihuahua, named Rio

If rescued Big Hank could get along with this extremely tough little guy

We would know if to a home with other canines, deserving Hank could go

Little Rio marched right in, not afraid of Big Hank at all, and growled, on command

Good old Hank took one look at him, and instead of attacking, soon wanted to play

And soon, he was following Rio’s lead, sitting on command, to obtain another treat

Hank, the deserving Pit Bull, will now get his chance, for a loving new home today

No type, or breed, of canine, is born vicious,

It’s vicious people, who attempt to make them so;

We pet rescuers believe ‘Breed Bans’ are ridiculous,

We should prosecute abusers, not persecute gentle souls.

There's so much truth in this, Ed, and I think all canines, like us humans, are a product of their conditioning and expectation. I love the way that dogs so readily bond and copy each other's traits, as demonstrated by the good role play here; it seems to happen (unlike us humans!) in an instant. Heart-touching and real. xx

I have a customer I stop at almost daily to deliever and they have a beautiful BIG beast of a pit bull, named Diesel...He and I play every chance I get, he chases me around his yard and barks at me while I do the same to him...e

I agree that no dog is born vicious, people make them so. It's great when I hear of a dog that people expected to be a handful turns out to be a sweetie.
Don't you just love it when dogs prove humans wrong.
