It seems that every nation in North America
Is now waging war against its own wildlife
The Canadian government will just not stop
Their annual slaughter of newborn seal lives
It still goes on, year after very bloody year
Despite protests from all around the globe
The world market for seal fur is now gone
But Canada’s leaders shrug, and say “So?”
Like we Americans, who now murder our fish eaters
Their abysmal Seal Hunt, was started to save their cod
And, just like we Americans, they have over-fished theirs
But blaming seals and sea lions, we humans don’t find odd
When biologists pointed out the fallacy in this
The Seal Haters said “Hell, we can sell their fur!”
Today, hardly anyone buys their bloody seal pelts
But this atrocious seal slaughter goes on, undeterred
Today, more and more of Earth’s Arctic ice is melting
And there is far less cod to be fished, and far less seals
But thousands of newborn seals will still be slaughtered
The War on Wildlife goes on, with our self-centered zeal
