Foggy Wood Morn

“The fog comes,
On little cat feet,
And sits on silent haunches,
And then, it moves on.”

Carl Sandburg

Music: Magical Travels

Something about the fog
Has always captivated me
And when it decides to visit
I find myself among the trees

The fog-filled forest is fast asleep
There is not one other soul around
The silence now is quite mesmerizing
A most mystical place, with no sound

Even my dogs seem to sense the wonder
As they accompany me through the wood
In our modern world, which is abysmally loud
This foggy silence seems so serene and good

The only sound that my dogs and I can hear as we walk
Is the crunch of the familiar forest trail beneath our feet
Yet, we know, that all around, are many forest dwellers
With each step forward, we wonder who we might meet

And quite often, as we wander through these silent trees
A distant twig snaps, causing all of us, to stop and stare
And although I cannot see very far, out here, in all this fog
I always wonder, if my dogs can sense, who or what is there

When we eventually tire on our foggy wood trek and stop to rest
We sit and listen to the eerie silence this fog-filled morning brings
For me, it’s a relaxing break from our far too hectic modern world
And almost always, as the fog begins to lift, the birds begin to sing

Something about the fog,
Has always captivated me;
And when it decides to visit,
I find myself, among the trees.

Too much fog I have been,
driving scared..but then
I might feel different if
my feet are on the ground

Nice poetic foggy mood you pet me in Ed.
Fog can be very relaxing and serine when you are on the ground walking.
In a car or on an aircraft it's another story mate...

Peace be with you...

The fog makes the woods seem surreal. Hence the source of many legends that have come out of the fog's mist of uncertainty.

I recall the fog rolling in every day around 4 PM over the hills into the San Francisco Peninsula like clockwork. The fog was never as dense as it seemed when it first appeared over those hills like a rolling ball of white fur consuming everything in its path.

I feel that way as well as there is often fog up here on the mountain and everything seems somehow mystical and mysterious. Thank you, Ed. Love and peace to you,
