Another call in the night

A tiny dog lying in the rain

“We think she may be injured,

She keeps whimpering in pain.”

When I found her lying there

I picked her up with a blanket

And I carried her to my truck

She was shivering, cold, and wet

I eventually carried her inside my house

She was now extremely grateful to be found

Soon, she stopped trembling, and she relaxed

Another little lost soul, so many of them around

She spent the night, covered in warm blankets

In the morning, I drove her to the animal hospital

She was thankfully not injured, just very frightened

And the very best news, she had a microchip after all

Her family was now ecstatic that she was safe and sound

They had been searching for their dog, all through the night

As I drove her home, she now lavished me with grateful kisses

A happy ending for this little lost soul, no longer filled with fright
