Snowy Morning Walk

Poem Artwork
-->“Every winter now my thoughts return to snow.
Snow is something I identify myself with.
Like my father, I am a snow person.”

Charlie English

Music: Magic Travels

Another batch of fluffy white snow
Fell from the heavens last night
Tater woke me long before dawn
Snowfall fills both of us with delight

Both of us know that the arrival of this new snow
Is much better than the recent Arctic Twenty Below
Tater attempts to prod me, and brings me his leash
I dress as quickly as I can, so the two of us can go

And soon, the two of us are out the door
Surveying our new snow-covered landscape
I could never live anywhere, not having snow
For the next batch of snow, I always seem to wait

Snow has been a part of my life since my childhood
I so relished playing in it, as now my loyal canines do
Some people curse and moan, whenever the snow arrives
For me, the soothing white snowflakes never make me blue

And whenever it snows, I soon find myself walking in its midst
Everything now magically covered by billions of tiny snowflakes
This early morn, I let good old Tater lead the way through the snow
Yet one more long, enchanting, magical, snowy morning walk awaits

I haven't seen snow in a a very long time, but your lovely poem reminds me of how beautiful it can be. And I'm glad I don't have the 'Arctic blast' most folks have. Love the music.

Personally I love to drive in the snow, especially at night with the headlights on and making the wind driven snow look like a spacial tunnel to drive through...-e-

Snow certainly changes the view in a startling way, often covering litter and making it more picturesque. And snow always makes it seem warmer. On my brief honeymoon in northern Wisconsin, it snowed every day, but not enough to make the roads impassable. When we got to Bayfield, a stark contrast between the very deep white snow and brilliant blue of Lake Superior with the Apostle Islands like white mushrooms in the blue background, was a sight to behold, worth the long drive that was so pleasant because of all the Currier and Ives scenes along the way.

It's been some time since we've had snow here in Southwest Houston. She's looking so forward to it like an inpatient child.

Speaking of dogs and snow. Big dogs like to romp in it, while little dogs struggle to do their poopies and hurry to get back inside where it's warm.

My Dear Wolfman ...

thought you lived "out in the Boonies" ?

so why are all those cars there in the pic?

as always a very fine tribute to Poesy...
bet Ole Tater had a very White Nosey!

Ah... White... the symbol of Innocence...
but people like me stay inside... warmed by the fire...
'cause we got more Sense !!!

We had about 4-6 inches in my neck of the woods...
but the road crews did a great job clearing...
mostly Black-top as Honda n I delivered our Scripts!
Just enough to make it Pretty for a short while...
that's how I like it ....

Yesterday Rain all day... washed away most of the Snow n Ice...
Today ... lovely Sunshine...

Down here in Bawlmer they say:
"If you dont like the weather... wait Five Minutes...
it will Change!"

Foe me, there's nothing like taking a walk while it's snowing. The landscape becomes pure and all the sounds are muted. It's enchantingly "cool".
