Today, whether canines are young or old
Whether they are pedigree or mixed breed
Mankind cruelly abuses and abandons them
Which brings complete and utter sadness to me

These are the extremely sad stories of the four furry faces above
These four dogs, like thousands of other dogs, just like them today
Deserve far more respect and loyalty from mankind, than we give them
And it sickens me since our abysmal cruelty seems to worsen every day

Charlotte was found in a trash bag near some railroad tracks. According to allegations in court documents, her owner told the police that she couldn’t afford to care for Charlotte anymore, so she put her in a plastic bag and just threw her out of her car window. Charlotte was severely injured during this horrific ordeal, and when she arrived at the animal hospital she was in critical condition. At the time of this horrendous act, Charlotte was less than four months old.

Shadow was also tossed out of a van when he was just a puppy. He eventually became feral, and he lived his life out on the mean streets searching for food, trusting no one. When we finally rescued him, he didn’t trust me at all. It took a month before he allowed me to touch him, and another month sleeping with him in my outdoor dog kennel before he decided that I was worthy of his trust.

Silver was living in a filthy wire pen in the middle of a sun-baked yard, where dozens of dogs were chained up and trained to fight. When Silver was rescued, his fur was missing in huge patches, and he tested positive for both heartworm and tick-borne disease. He was also severely underweight and had no access to fresh food or water. His silvery-gray muzzle made it clear that he had spent most of his life trapped in that abysmal place.

Scruffy was abandoned in his old age and left to fend for himself out on the mean city streets. He wandered aimlessly for weeks, digging through garbage cans and trash heaps, attempting to somehow survive. When we rescued him, he was severely underweight, he had several infected teeth that had to be removed, he was infested with parasites, and his once beautiful coat was now filthy and covered in oil.

But we must all try; they deserve that much from us
Please help save an innocent life that is worth saving
Adopt a homeless dog, from a rescue group or a shelter
And discover the unconditional love and loyalty they bring
