It’s Pet Appreciation Week
A week, to honor our friends
Who give so much, to all of us
Who are extremely loyal to the end
And it doesn’t matter what kind of pets
Whether they are dogs, or cats, or birds
Whether they are guinea pigs or goldfish
Our pets do so much, to enrich our world
This is an excellent time to do something for them
To show them, that we do appreciate their company
Do something this week, to applaud and pamper them
Spend some extra time with them, buy them some treats
I have been extremely fortunate, since my very early childhood
To have lived with so many wonderful pets, throughout my life
From dogs and cats, to snakes and turtles, to all kinds of birds
And studies have shown that our pets even help to reduce our strife

When I fire cracker went off in my hand leaving it numb for hours scared the crap out of me, as for. My pet I try to keep indoors as much as possible

I love animals and love them most of all when they are free to be animals. I find having a pet to be a huge responsibility and that's why I don't have one. While I did it when I was young and didn't know any better, I no longer believe that torturing some critters for our own edification is right. I do agree that dogs and cats have been bred and domesticated for so long, that we must keep them and must protect them rather than let them run wild. But I'd much rather get a glimpse of a red fox in its prime than have the finest show dog that I have to take to the beauty parlor regularly to keep it looking the way everyone expects.
