I'll put on the coffee,


I'll bake a cake,


Time will stand still


as we pause to relate


Our plans, our faux pas,


The high points and low,


The state of our kids


and the new jokes we know.


I bask in your glow,


our dreams are unfurled.


Friendship shelters us


from the storms


of the world.
