Ritual Illusions

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Angry confusions,

With ritual illusions

Rule this irrational day.

For I dance to songs,

that no longer belong

in this world of wicked dismay.

With fitting transgressions

That belies false possessions

It is I that in due season must pay.

For my belligerent dreams

Are not what they seem,

And vivid chaos rules the day.

So dance along

And sing your song,

And forget me not I pray.

For lost am I

In this prison of mine,

Forever chained by time.

So tell me now, and gently please,

Can you feel the things I see

And see the things I feel?

Are they all just make believe?

Are they even at all real?

For I can not understand…

How they can just be?

Yet there goes you,

And there went me.

Off now…

Off into the sea,

Off…off… off…into,

ritual illusions of insanity.

Brilliant poetry Allen! You capture the feeling so completely,
I think you speak for many. We all must find our way through
this deluded world. More in chaos today than ever before, and
we know why!Keep writing my friend and clarifying things for us;-)!

Can really relate to those words, J. Allen. But I think we should all dance to our own songs, regardless of what anyone else says or thinks.

"...can you feel the things I see, and see the things I feel?"

Loud and clear, J. Allen...loud and clear. My world has been
touched by insanity from birth, I believe. But I can't live or
love without it. It is part and parcel of the creative "me," and
sometimes, I even revel in it. Enjoy your brilliance, poet!

The only way to live in an insane world is to be just as if not more insane than the next guy...I may have read that somewhere, but then again I may have coined that term...either way you have coined & minted a cool addition to your line of poetry, herein Al...this I truly enjoyed, I might say that it is on of your best, but I hesitate as I get told that too sometimes, but inside I don't feel that way...Peace thru Insanity Known, Ed & Rufuz
