World Of Sadness

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Tuesday, April 13, 2004

I walk this world… in a sadness that I know,

For my life is as fleeting as a late spring snow.

My shadows grow darker and foretell the coming season,

As they, my shadows of occasion in distance do lengthen.

For my days have become mere blips on life’s big screen.

They move in swirling madness and with the swiftness of a racing sun,

leaving too many things and too many dreams unfinished, undone.

If I could but slow the hand of time,

to allow reason to enter this life of mine.

If only this I could do,

I would then …to my own self be true .

For I now resist the urge to keep on dreaming,

out of fear and unrest of abruptly leaving.

For to dream and dream again…only to have it end,

makes my grief, and my life even more a sin.

So in visions quest, I shall suppress

And dream no more,

For this is the reason of the shadows season

And is why I…walk in a world of sadness,

That is as fleeting as a late spring snow.

deep and profound Allen, and true it may seem that the world of shadow means by its existance the absense of dream, Also the late spring snow image was nice too, but hinted anything coulod come, ty Al

A most profound and touching piece of your heart on paper,
J. Allen....beautifully, though sadly, scribed.
We all wish to keep on keeping on...and someday...all of us
will. "Death, and sadness and tears shall be no more." Rev.21

This poem of haunting tone, wraps its sadness around me as it delivers its message.

"So in visions quest, I shall suppress
And dream no more,"

Well done, Allen.

Your poetry is so superb Allen! This is sad and almost
hopeless, but I know in whom you hope, so I won't worry!

How sad.. Because you feel like you are running out of time..? One could achieve their dreams in a day.. If it is meant to be. I use to program my dreams so I could dream nice times.. nice things.. I can't seem to do that anymore.. Like I have lost what I want to dream of..if that make any sense. This was very moving! And sadly I understand
