Split In The Sky

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Thursday, April 15, 2004

Oh man of sorrows with fearful eye,

Cast your glance upon the gash in the sky.

Construct your senses now from this anomaly,

And allow your burdened spirit to soar free.

Tell me now, can you see the city that hides behind this seam?

And will you garner understanding to this strange dream?

For few there be that will ever truly know,

how over the centuries, this invisible crack does grow.

For ever widening is this split in the sky,

which is an open portal

to another dimension in time.

So tell me now, old man of sorrows,

What would you give for a thousand tomorrows?

Would you, your soul to me freely give,

If you thought that for eternity, you would live?

Look again to this hidden place in the eastern sky,

Do you see the chariots as they hurtle on by?

How about the maidens all dressed in white?

Would you like to lie in their arms for a thousand nights?

I know that you are partial to fine drink,

So I say unto you now, what do you think?

Behold and know, that you can have all you please.

If you would but say yes to my humble request,

This all could be yours to do with as you see best.

But we must sign our pact and sign it fast,

For this vision I give will not last.

So just sign here on the dotted line……………......................

And everything I promise, will be just fine.

What was that?

No! I am telling the truth,

why would I be lying.

hi Allen, the whole idea of a crack or split in the seam of the sky I found intriguing, and had never quite thought about it that way, or one in the process of growing, but I guess it could happen that way, such a thoughtful write Allen Al

Oh Allen! this has all of my emotions stirred, going in so many directions! Such a splendid compilation of queries! The finale gave me the shivers, thinking of how blindly some sign such a pact!

You have my signature on that dotted line,
So where is my prize, you said was so fine,
Maybe I should have looked further into your mind,
So here I sit awaiting my prize, maybe I will get it,
In your own good time...

A neat one, Al, made me think, thanks, Peace thru the Write, Ed & Rufuz
