Many things in this bountiful life have I desired,
to which most that were within reason, have been acquired.
for I longed for precious silver, and I coveted the worlds gold.
I have so many things now, that my modest home can no longer hold.
Yes….life has been good to me thus far.
However this truth I must confess, for all that have ears to know.
That too much silver, and too much gold,
can not only weary, but also burden ones soul.
For it is the empty heart that cries out for more,
for it is merely a temporary fix, which will soon fade away to distant shore,
thus forcing this empty man to add more to his life than he need in hand.
For all of mans attempts in acquiring material things to achieve his eternal bliss,
gives forth the same and constant result of extended unhappiness.
For when we reach life’s end, and there is nothing left for which to spend,
And we see a house filled to the brim with all of our wonderful material things,
We will then realize that it was futile, for all these things were just empty dreams.
It is then we will lament, and in sadness sigh, over our wondrous earthly gains,
For our souls will cry out in a most wretched pain.
Because after all is said and done, and everything is balanced and weighed,
It is then that we will realize, that despite all of our material wealth,
that we have nothing to offer, yes, nothing left, and we then just quietly pass away.

you point that out, Allen! This is another well
thought out, wonderfully written with wisdom, poem!
Remember, though, that what God promises us by
way of "replacement" is far superior to anything
we mortals could have accumulated in our own brief
life span.
Bless you!
