Forget Me Not, Forget Me Now

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Saturday, May 15, 2004

Have you ever for the sake of forever, really been there?

Is it true , and can I believe, when you say that you actually care?

Have you ever listened and truly heard the crying of my words?

Or were you just hearing the black angels as they broke the morning air?

Have you ever tasted from this cup, this bitter wine of mine,

which by your hand, you made from the sour grapes growing on mayhems vine.

How can I forgive you now, and worse yet… how can I forget?

for you have sided with the deceiver, of ill-gottens chance.

Thus by doing so, you have betrayed the only one who has loved you without regret.

So pity I, and pity you this unforgiving shame,

for you have embraced the darkness of night for a tiny taste of fame.

So forget me not, and forget me now, and I will to you, do the same.

So powerful, my friend
Hauntingly sad and written
from the depth of your heart.

Allen, I believe this might hold a taste of anger. Nip gently sir..don't allow it to spread throughout.
Your words speak quite clearly, your imagery is sharp as razors. Another very good write. Lisa

This was so powerfully sad, just touched something in me, a memory or two of my own, I liked this:

So pity I, and pity you this unforgiving shame,
for you have embraced the darkness
of night for a tiny taste of fame.
So forget me not, and forget me now,
and I will to you, do the same.

Very chilling feel to this Allen! How often
we have situations like this that are hard to
explain to those who don't understand, they are
trapped by the deceiver . Powerful and well written!

this one I think goes in deep Allen, to remorses held within the soul and not surface. For they are alive there, and the thing we think soul truly in the mouth does taste like candy, al
