What's In A Name Inspired By Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Inspired by Andre Bendavi Ben-YEHU's poem "When we call God"

Sunday, June 6, 2004

The wind blows against my mortal skin

and I know not of where it begins.

Yet even still, I know that it is real,

Though I see it not, the wind I do feel.

In that respect, God is much like the wind to me.

Even though His face I have never seen,

I know with out a doubt that He is real

For in my heart, like the wind on my skin, His presence I feel.

So hitherto from my youth,

His word has been taught to me.

For some call upon Him by name,

While others hide from Him in Shame.

So therefore on bended knee,

It is to the God of many names, I make my plea.

For my prayer is to ELOHIM, our God of power,

Whose strength is invincible even in our darkest hour.

I shall also to Elohay Mishpat, offer my solemn prayers,

For he will deliver justice to those ensnared.

He is all there is, and He is all there ever was,

He is also Elah Sh'maya V'Arah, God of heaven and earth.

Therefore, He is like the wind, He and all His Names,

And it is this to Him that I can truly proclaim.

I know that I know, that He more than name,

For in reality, He is three, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

All part of the Holy Trinity.

So I shall at last conclude this, by giving my thanks unto Him,

For he has given me breath, and allowed me to live,

He has blessed my soul, and has made my life whole again.

So Thank you YHVH, thank you Yeshua,

thank you God for all that you give.

This was a great response, very open-minded and a great analogy here with the wind- excellent work.

What a marvelous, spiritual and touching verse you've composed here. You make an excellent point - no matter what name we use to call.....the importance is in the calling.
