Slippery Steps Of Dying Dreams

Oh poundings of failing heart,
left on slippery steps of dying dreams
begets the stillness of a knowing pain
as the winds of a sighing mind slowly part.

For parables before crying eyes fall,
as dead teachers dance and sing
thus giving birth to a life that forgets all.

For on these steps of dying dreams.
cries a soul with loss of mind,
one replete with deadly kisses….
of stolen time.

so come now unto me

come…without one plea,
for dismal and absorbing
are the dreary nights returns

for the thief of slumber
keeps one yearning
of hidden thoughts,

which keeps the soul from discerning.

So carry me away to a secret place,
Show me favor and grant me grace,
For without this help that I seek from thee

I will truly be left alone…left alone

on the slippery steps of dying dreams.

Sad, heartfelt and haunting poetry. Flow and lyricism contribute to the feeling tone and its very effective how the ending both fades and relieves the situation.

Very pensive and yearning poem Allen that tugs at your heartstrings..especially drawn to stanza " For on these steps of dying dreams.
cries a soul with loss of mind,
one replete with deadly kisses…. of stolen time. "
